Filter Media Polyester Calendered Singed FLP-SW

Mechanical Impact
Mechanical finishing processes such as calendering and singeing provide the polyester filter media with a more uniform, compact, and controlled surface. Calendering helps stabilize and smooth the media surface, while singeing removes loose and protruding fibers to create a cleaner filtration interface. Combined with the integrated polyester scrim and needle-punched construction, these media provide strong mechanical integrity, with the reviewed grades showing minimum tensile strengths of 750–900 N/50 mm in MD and 700–850 N/50 mm in CD.

Technical Benefit
The engineered construction of these media provides a combination of mechanical strength, dimensional stability, controlled air permeability, and reliable thermal resistance. Across the reviewed grades, heat shrinkage is limited to ≤1.5% in both directions, while the specified operating temperature reaches up to 160°C continuously and 180°C at peak conditions. Depending on the grade, air permeability ranges approximately from 90 to 200 L/dm²·min at 200 Pa, allowing the appropriate media to be selected according to filtration-system requirements.

Key Advantages of Mechanical Surface Treatments
Mechanical surface treatments such as calendering and singeing improve surface uniformity, reduce loose fibers, enhance structural consistency, and prepare the media surface for more stable filtration performance. Together with the needle-punched structure and polyester reinforcing scrim, these treatments contribute to high mechanical durability, good thermal stability, and controlled airflow characteristics. The datasheets for this media family also specify a PTFE coating as an additional surface treatment, which is separate from the mechanical finishing processes.
